Remember "More than a Mountain" ?

It was the exhibit that was spearheaded by Sergei Troubetskoy, Director of
Bedford Tourism, and co-hosted by The Bedford Welcome Center and Bower
Bower Center to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
This mammoth project received an Honorable Mention Virgo Award for the
Heritage Tourism Program of the Year from the Virginia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus at the recent Virginia Tourism Summit in
Chesapeake, Va.
The success of this exhibit was possible through the cooperation of six gallery venues throughout Bedford: Art of Depot, Art Upstairs, Bedford Library, Bedford Welcome Center, Bower Center for the Arts, and Goose Creek Studio Gallery and Custom Framing, in addition to the numerous volunteers and the artists themselves, who participated to make this an "outstanding attraction" for the area. We have plenty more planned for this coming year.

FALL CLASSES - WORKSHOPS

Our Fall classes are now in full swing with several more ready for November. Here's just a sampling of what the Bower is working on to offer you in the months to come: Fiber Art, Pottery, Painting, Jewelry Making, Creative
Writing, Digital Photography and Editing.

A Successful Summer -

The Summer Arts and Nature Camps this past June were a complete success. The students participated in a variety of art and music programs. These programs were linked with the 21st Century Arts Enrichment Program and in
collaboration with the Lynchburg College's Claytor Nature Study Center in Bedford. Later this year a mural incorporating mosaic and clay tiles made by our summer arts students will be placed on permanent display at the Bower Center. A special thank you to Lauren Mason, Kari Saxton, and Sylvia Tickle, our three interns who assisted with classes. And a special shout out to all our students who made some fantastic art and the program such a great success!
