April Layne, a student at Liberty High School, was awarded Best in Show for her entry "Bright Eyes" at the recent all media "Education through the Arts"
exhibition. Students from Jefferson Forest, Staunton River, and Libery High
Schools participated in the exhibit. Thanks to art teachers Joseph Curcio, Me-
lissa Friedewald, Susan Hubble, Patricia Lester and Leslie Padgett who helped
to plan and assisted in putting the exhibit up. Hopefully, this will become an
annual event. Congratulations April!!!

The Wharton Memorial Foundation Bower Center for the Arts is a non-profit organization located in historic downtown Bedford,Va. at the base of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. The Bower Center serves the greater Bedford community by promoting artistic and cultural activities and provides education in the arts. In addition the Wharton Memorial Foundation preserves two historical Virgina landmarks and maintains the Wharton Memorial Garden.
