Meet Artist Donna Nevers
Artist Donna Nevers Encaustic Painting Workshop will be coming to the Bower Center September 9th and 10th. Encaustic Painting is an art dating back to 5th Century BC. which has been renewed by artists such as Donna Nevers. A Virginia native, Nevers was born and raised in Waynesboro. She has traveled the world as an archeaologist and studied art over 30 years. Her works reflect a strong passion for the bucolic scenes of her beloved Virginia's countryside along with other countries she has traveled through. Nevers prefers to use heavy textures, utilizing a palette knife impasto and strong energized brushstrokes to draw the viewer into each one of her works. The lavish colors and textures ignite the imagination. It challenges you to interpret the meaning within each painting. Nevers recently completed an intensive three year study in the art of Encaustic Wax painting and developed this workshop to share this exciting medium. In her two day workshop you will learn how to use molten beeswax and colored pigments to create both abstract and realistic paintings. You will learn not only the techniques applied with collage transfers and mixed media but learn about this ancient art itself. Upon completing this two day workshop you will be have 2-3 completed paintings and have ideas for many more. Don't miss this exciting workshop. Space is limited - but you can easily log on to our website from here to download the registration form. Just Click the Bower Pic!
